Crews are busy marking milestones at Simcoe County’s largest construction site, Georgian Sands. If you’ve been by the site at River Road West and Village Gate Drive in Wasaga Beach, you will have seen Elm Development’s state-of-the-art construction process in action. Over the summer, crews installed thousands of meters of underground pipe needed for the water, storm and sanitary sewer systems of the master-planned community’s first phase. Excavators, pipe cranes, loaders, rock trucks and scrapers were all part of a massive earthworks mission, getting the site ready for the next important step, putting in the roads that will service Phase 1 of Georgian Sands.
Work on interior roads went smoothly, reaching the final grade stage early in the fall. Paving the roads with asphalt and installing the base curbs that provide the important foundation for roadside curbs is now complete. Elm’s efficient timeline means that all interior roads will be ready before winter.
Elm’s vision of Georgian Sands as a landmark community in fast-growing Wasaga Beach is quickly evolving. With its charming commercial area of shops and cafés built right into the master planned community of towns and singles along with nature trails and a four-acre multi-sports park and its location right next to an 18-hole golf course, Georgian Sands has already created considerable excitement. Living within walking distance of all of these amenities and a short bike ride from the world-famous 14-kilometer beach enhances healthy living, a draw for purchasers of all ages. Phase 1 and 2 have sold out quickly. Elm is working on the details of phase 3 right now.
