Something new has happened to bicycles and winter. Now there’s no need to give up your cycling habit just because it’s frosty outside. Not when you have four-inch wide tires, aka fat tires that take you flying along snow-covered trails. As soon as the mercury plummets in this area, you’ll see cyclists don their helmets, layers, over-boots and gloves for an exhilarating ride. One spot to try are the 35 kilometers of marked trails at Collingwood, following the old Northern Railway route along Southern Georgian Bay. Fat tires ride snow-packed trails well. The colder it is, the easier to ride, say enthusiasts. One good reason to cheer for colder temperatures!
