Labour Day, summer’s last hurrah

For many, Labour Day weekend is summer’s last hurrah. The beaches empty, the lines for ice cream dwindle, and, oh no, is that a slight chill in the air at night? Communities all around Southern Georgian Bay celebrate this long weekend with festivals and fireworks. This year, Memories of Summer is back in Wasaga Beach with Beach Area Two fireworks on Sunday at dusk. And that’s not all. A three-day wacky Inflate-A-Fest takes over the beach with giant inflatable slides, bouncy castles, obstacle courses and games for all ages. At Blue Mountain Village, three days of family activities are planned, from scavenger hunts to drumming to live music performances. All of this fun can’t possibly mean that summer’s over! For those of us who are wondering, it officially ends September 22.
