100th Anniversary of the Armistice

The Simcoe County Archives has launched Simcoe County Remembers, an online resource that pays homage to men and women with connections to the county who died while in service or as a result of wounds or injuries in the First World War. The database, numbering 1,006 names at present, has been made available to the general public in time for the 100th Anniversary of the Armistice. Many of those names include those who died at the battle of Ypres, the first engagement  of Canadian forces in the Great War; Vimy Ridge, the first time Canadian divisions fought as one, and Passchendaele, one of the best known battles of World War 1.
