Just a few minutes from the world’s longest freshwater beach, a flotilla of heavy equipment is preparing the land for Wasaga Beach’s largest new master-planned community. While beachgoers throng sandy shores and summer festivals are in full swing, Elm Development crews are hard at work creating the new neighbourhood of Georgian Sands in thriving Wasaga. Watching them gives you a sense of Elm’s efficient, state of the art construction process.

Drive by the site at River Road West and Village Gate Drive and you’ll see excavators, pipe cranes, loaders, rock trucks and scrapers. Right now, they are busy preparing the site and completing the installation of the deep sanitary sewer and water main. Phase one alone involves putting in thousands of meters of underground pipe. Roads serving the first phase have been cut as well, with base coats and curbs ready by the end of summer.

Wasaga Beach is one of the fastest growing towns in Canada, with plans underway for a revitalized downtown that will rival Blue Mountain’s. Right next to an 18-hole golf course and just minutes from Beach Area One and the new downtown, Georgian Sands is ideally situated. Elm has designed a charming commercial area with shops and cafés right into the community as well as nature trails and a large multi-sports park for all-season recreation. The new neighbourhood with its streetscapes of Georgian-Bay inspired towns and singles has already created excitement, with phase one and two selling out quickly. Elm is working on the details of phase three right now. Elm Development has created an impressive portfolio of residential communities such as the master-planned waterfront village of Harbour Isle in Nova Scotia.
