This Sunday, January 12 marks a much-loved tradition, the annual New Year’s Levee in Wasaga Beach. Between 1 and 3 p.m., everyone’s invited to the Recplex at 1724 Mosley Street for an open house and a chance to chat with Mayor Nina Bifolchi and Council members. The New Year’s Levee is a tradition that harkens back centuries to the era of New France, when the governor would welcome everyone in the settlement to greet the new year. Today, many Canadian communities observe the New Year’s Levee as an opportunity for residents to enjoy a social gathering with local leaders.
