Ever wondered what a sailor’s life was like in 1812? This Saturday, August 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., find out when you visit Nancy Island Historic Site in Wasaga Beach. It’s the 205th Anniversary of the sinking of the HMS Nancy and there’s lots to enjoy. You’ll meet sailors and voyageurs (re-enactors of course!) who will show you how to load a musket, swing a cutlass, tie knots and handle a canoe voyageur-style. You’ll be serenaded by sea shanties and folk music while you watch model ships being launched on the river. Enjoy naval games and even a sample of grog (non-alcoholic). Families and children will enjoy this annual chance to travel back in time. Bicycle from Georgian Sands to Nancy Island in under 10 minutes.
