Most children know that Santa doesn’t go anywhere without his reindeer as the holidays approach. Reindeer and Santa are a tradition that goes back to 1823 when The Night Before Christmas was published by Clement C. Moore. Reindeer are native to Arctic regions, northern Europe and Siberia. Both males and females grow antlers. Here’s a tip if you really want to please a reindeer. Leave some moss instead of a carrot for Rudolph on Christmas Eve. If you can’t wait for Christmas Eve, you’ll find Santa and his reindeer-in-training every Saturday up to Christmas from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Collingwood’s Town Hall.
